Agree with everything. A consolation game against a mediocre ASU team has suddenly become a monster game. I think we win. Hopefully they’re a more conventional team than the unusual styles of Colgate and VCU that exposed our lack of good perimeter defense and lack of a true point guard.

I did see one small ray of sunshine peak through the very dark clouds late in the game. Swider finally just shot the effin ball with three late three attempts late in the game. He shot them without hesitation, with the last two going in and out. I still think he will be the player and shooter he was in the pre-season. His problems seem entirely mental.

On a recent Devendorf podcast, Trevor Cooney told a story about being in a shooting slump and asking an assistant to get some tapes for him to watch so he could figure out what he was doing wrong mechanically. Instead of getting the tapes, Cooney got a visit from Boeheim, who told him he doesn’t need watch any tapes, just shoot the effin ball. Boeheim needs to deliver that same message to Cole. Shooters gotta shoot, whether they’ve been going in or not.

That was a great story from Trevor. I remember chuckling while listening to that episode.
