Mike the solution to #3 is to change the offensive strategy. The 4-1 sets they run have almost no motion, screening, or continuity. You’re hoping that your primary penetrators can not only beat their man, but draw help and then make the right decision with the ball….and then have shooters knock...

I think they actually sell and close hard too. Not sure that was the case with the last crew.

I do think Cornell is pretty good, and I think Earl is a great coach (who runs really good stuff)….so I don’t think it’s as easy a game as it might seem. That said, I agree. Defending without fouling is a really important part, and they have struggled with that. Definitely a work in progress.

Benny being a non-factor is a huge blow. Having 4 bad 5s is a huge issue. Carey, Hima, and Patterson should all be moved on after this year. Probably Copeland too. Playing better comp is good for the pieces we have that can hopefully adapt.

Points 2 & 3 are clear coaching issues that have plagued this team since Dino got here. Players change…still have penalties. Players change….still run the wrong way. Coaches change…..still baffling decisions.

I’m encouraged that Dino has been more focused on the Northeast (to the extent Dino is a factor going forward). The scattershot approach was a mess. And honestly….i think it also shows that the Nick Monroe status as a recruiter was ho-hum big picture….but maybe he’s a better general coach than...

Oh couldn’t agree more DJ. The recruiting hasn’t been good enough….and losing Lamson was a massive hit (as I think we all knew it would be). Same with OG…we have one excellent kid, and despite the yearly “I like Alford/Hatcher/Jones” banter…..those guys just aren’t good at the football.

You’re that much smaller than all your competition, some of it’s bound to happen. S&C program clearly needs re-evaluation….but the clay they have to sculpt is a problem.
