1655745262661.pngFrom On3. Tahaad Pettiford, 6’0” point guard out of Jersey City, 2024, plays for the Rens. Has had a big spring. Now the fourth 2024 point guard we’ve been mentioned with, in addition to Cadeau, Robert Wright, and Juni Mobley. Elmarko is also a point. Not sure what this says about the staff’s thoughts about Copeland.

Don’t think it says anything. You can play positionless basketball now and we also didn’t have a single person who could dribble a basketball against the slightest of pressure. So why not more than 1 for the future

Syracuse can’t/doesn’t play position-less. Very few teams do. You can play with interchangeable pieces, and I think that may be the case here. That class needs a point guard in all likelihood, even if they land Elmarko. I’m not necessarily a fan of some of these targets, but they’ll need someone.

You don’t have to convince me to cheer for him. I’ll be thrilled to be wrong. But it seems like he’s more interested in pursuing his own path….and I’m just not convinced he 1. Fits what SU traditionally needs from their guards, or that 2. SU is a good fit for him, or 3. That in any case he moves the needle to get them back into the top 25 on a regular basis. He’s a strong guard, but not a big or lengthy one. He’s not a great athlete, but he’s an adequate one. He’s kind of a combo guard, but really a small 2. He is a good shooter….but can he get it with what SU runs? I am cheering for him, and half my point is simply if he’s a fit. My opinion is that he is not. But I’m 1000% hoping to one day say “damn I wish they’d made it fit”. But huge congrats to him as more offers start to come in.

Here's my take, but I have no intel and this is solely based on analyst comments, recruiting services, media articles, etc.
Wagner (he's said SU still recruits him, but I imagine it's Louisville or Kentucky in the end)
Edwards (his trimmed list didn't include SU)
Buzelis (his trimmed list didn't include SU)
Bradshaw (his trimmed list didn't include SU, and I don't think he was ever offered)
Miranda (focused on other schools)
Bowen (focused on other schools, never offered)
Griffiths (committed to Rutgers)
Kingsley (seems to be focused on Kentucky, Kansas, UConn and maybe LSU)
Estrella (priority, but long shot with Duke now in the picture)
Elmarko (priority, hopeful to land a visit)
Reid (priority, visiting soon, per Mike)
Clark (I believe the SU staff visited Brewster last September, and reportedly watched Clark, along with Reid, Matas, Taylor, etc. Not sure if there's interest these days)
Papa Kante (focused on other schools)

Tafara Gapare was offered at the end of April, but he committed to DePaul
Kaden Cooper was offered at the end of April, but he has a ton of offers and is reportedly visiting Gonzaga, LSU, Oklahoma, etc.

Others whom I believed were offered: Spencer Mahoney (no idea what's going on there), Simeon Wilcher (UNC commit), Elijah Fisher (Texas Tech commit), G.G. Jackson (UNC commit), Aden Holloway (down to, I believe, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami and Wake Forest)...did I miss anyone??

As Mike mentioned, iffy whether SU actually offered Blue Cain
No idea about Watson, Power, Amadou, Johnson and Dioubate
Buzelis committed to the G league Ignite

Mike, are you able to confirm this offer? This would be our first 2025 basketball offer, isn’t it?
Easter is big time, so hopefully we are trying to get involved. I’m still baffled that I don’t think they’ve tried to make contact with the Flagg brothers.

Some new 2023 international (now in the US) names to keep an eye on.

Marouf Moumine, 6-5, PG, originally from Senegal, played at NBA Academy and just recently came over to the US. He will blow up if he plays well in EYBL.

Meet Marouf Moumine‼️ Cameroon’s next basketball ⭐🇨🇲 #jrnba #dwyanewade #dwade #joelembiid #cameroon #basketball #motivation #inspiration #florida #highschool #fyp (tiktok.com)

Michael Nwoko, 6-10, 240, from Canada, now playing in North Carolina. Might have already missed the boat, he's blowing up with offers, he's a beast.

Caleb Vanderburg on Twitter: "2023 Michael Nwoko had a big week at FIBA U18 America’s championship for Canada 🇨🇦 @MichaelNwoko2 💪🏾 https://t.co/jzVlRhW1uv" / Twitter

I'll be back with 2024 kids in another post.
Nwoko blew up.
