ACC, Pac-12 Discussing ESPN TV Partnership

They also discussed having a one game playoff between the Pac12 champion and the ACC champion in Las Vegas. The PAC 12 is essentially dead. Fox has decided not to participate in a new TV deal with them. Which means ESPN will be bidding against itself. The ACC is looking for any way possible to renegotiate a new TV deal. The new Big 12 deal without Oklahoma and Texas will be more money than the ACC. Just by virtue of having a new contract and ours being signed in 2016. If this partnership doesn’t change the narrative on whether or not we can get a new TV deal then it’s not worth it.

The grant of rights is still holding things together because it’s still valid for like 15 seasons. Leaving the ACC will be SUPER expensive. There is definitely a way out of if to pay nothing. Essentially you can’t pay exit fees to an entity that no longer exists. So if the Big 10 and SEC decided to at the same time take 4 a piece, the ACC will no longer exist. The remaining 6 schools will be switching conferences.

Mike, do you think the Acc will keep all the teams and add more ? What is the latest ?
I think long term SU is screwed. The big ten will continue cherry pick the best programs and with 100 million per year in TV $$ who is going to turn it down. If Miami, Clemson, and Florida St go to the SEC the ACC is in big trouble.
