Pearl - Appreciate your posts. Wish we would take a look at Keba Keita.

I love the 22 class but really hope we bring in some game ready portal or juco guys for next year. Some athleticism. Some athletic juco forwards out there like Nae’qwan Tomlin or Mohammed Diarra, or even an athletic guard like Sean East.

Seems to me if Benny stays and Swider leaves then we’ll bring in a starting forward. Might bring in a starting shooting guard also. Both depend on if the staff in April thinks Bunch and Taylor are ready to start as freshmen. My gut feeling is Taylor starts right away but not Bunch. Taylor seems a little more polished and well-rounded than Bunch right now, even if Bunch might have the higher ceiling.

Bunch’s Wasatch team is playing in an NIBC tournament this week, with the first game on ESPNU tomorrow and the other two streaming on ESPN+. The NIBC is a new elite national conference of eight top high school program. J.J. Starling’s very good LaLumiere team is also in the conferenc and playing in the tournament, with the first game on ESPNU tomorrow and the other two streaming.

Neither is ready to start right away. This incoming class will take a year or two to develop.

I love the class they are bringing in, but I agree with you. They need to bring in portal or juco guys with athleticism that can play right away.

I also wish that we would play 9-10 guys like Baylor and Auburn are finding success with but I know it ain’t happening. Maybe in the future.

We need guys ready now the way this team looks. Can’t be confident in landing those huge prospects like Lands when so many of the top end guys base their decision on how much money they will make. Syracuse has shown they are unwilling to play the game. We get JJ and Lands we would be talking a huge class. As it stands it’s solid. I think Taylor starts. I think they look for a grad transfer at forward to give the others time to get college ready. And besides Taylor, Bunch gets some PT off the bench. Lands would start. JJ would start. Syracuse is not a tough sell for basketball. Lands made it obvious he was looking for money. I’m suspecting that might’ve happened with JJ. Just my opinion but you can’t keep sitting back and watching schools openly recruit using NIL and decide we can’t. The NCAA is gonna do nothing about it. And everyone knows it. Those kids should be in our class.

You might be right. But I think Boeheim has seen Taylor as a guy to just plug right in as Buddy’s replacement. He really wanted Taylor, he picked him up at the airport himself. Justin is better in most aspects of the game than Buddy was coming into SU. He has a tighter handle than Bunch. Chris is doing more ball handling for Wasatch than he did at Peach Jam, but his dribble is high and the ball gets knocked away from him a lot. Justin is also a more physical player inside than Chris and a more consistent defender.

Will Buddy still leave if Syracuse has a down year and doesn’t make the tournament? Even if his shooting percentages are down for the year? Might not help his marketability going forward.
