Five Takeaways: Pittsburgh 64 Syracuse 53

Worst game by Syracuse in a long, long time. It’s almost inconceivable how every single player can be off on the same night. I guess we have to conclude that Benny must be playing terrible in practice. Why else would he not be playing more? But shouldn’t he be getting better at this stage with coaching and player development? It’s not like he doesn’t have talent.

I thought the team just about gave up down the stretch. It's one thing to miss shots but they seemed to just throw up some bad shots in desperation and frustration or else make very bad turnovers.

All five starters had bad games, most very bad. Even Jesse had his worst game of the year and he's our best player. Swider seems to have many games where he gets a bucket or two early and then seems to almost disappear for a very long time until he often gets a couple of late buckets after the game's been decided. Buddy is a very good offensive player, but he does not have the right players around him to accentuate his strengths and compensate for his weaknesses. The lack of a floor leader is glaring.

The wheels are off the bus. Let's hope things don't devolve further from here.

It's nice to see Bol get some minutes but he did nothing that Benny doesn't do when he's out there and in the first half he did worse. Bol's not going to get much better with minutes. Benny has the potential to be a very good player, but he needs minutes to maybe play more freely instead of tight. I just hope Benny becomes a very good player here instead of somewhere else.
