Live Game Thread: Syracuse vs Rutgers

Syracuse gets a stop on Rutgers possession after the fumble. The Orange is driving again but has a 3rd and 14 at the Rutgers 42 coming up.

That'll end the first quarter. Syracuse and Rutgers tied at 0.

Syracuse completes a short pass for a gain of about 4. Sets up 4th and 10. Williams punts. It goes out of bounds at the 12 yard line where Rutgers takes over.

Rutgers gets a few first downs but Syracuse makes the stop stuffing a third and one rushing attempt. Syracuse takes over at its own 12 yard line. 9:53 left in the half. No score still.

Well that didn't go well. Two runs, a completion called back because of a penalty, and a sack. Syracuse punts. Rutgers takes over at the 36.

The defense came to play on that series. McKinley Williams gets a sack on first down, the Orange gets another on 2nd, and Rutgers ends up punting. After Pena muffs the punt, he recovers and Syracuse takes over at its own 15.

Shrader leads Syracuse once again on this drive, and once again Syracuse goes three and out. Two short runs followed by a short pass and the Orange punts. Rutgers takes over at the SU 47.

What more can you ask of the Syracuse defense? They get another stop, this time Rutgers foes for 4th and 1, but Mikel Jones shoots the gap and makes a stop for a 4 yard loss. Syracuse ball. Shrader still in at QB

Shrader has Syracuse on the move. He's completed a few nice passes to Sharod Johnson, Sean Tucker and Taj Harris. Syracuse inside the RU 20 with 35 seconds left in the half.

Syracuse stalls but has a 43 yard FG attempt from Szmyt coming up. Rutgers calls timeout to try to ice him.

Good start to the 2nd half for the Syracuse defense. Forces a three and out. Garrett Williams with tremendous coverage on a third down pass. Great punt from Rutgers though and Syracuse starts at its own 1.
