Sounds like it's more likely than not that we don't bring in a portal forward. I think highly of Benny and the three freshmen who can play forward, but that seems risky to me. I'm more worried about rebounding than three point shooting or zone defense. A frontline of Edwards, Benny and Bunch would be skinny and with one guy who's shown he can rebound. Hopefully Benny comes back as a more aggressive rebounder. Taylor is a willing rebounder who doesn't shy from contact but he's a bit undersized. We could have instances of a three-guard lineup with Girard, Mintz, and Copeland, with Copeland on the backline of the zone. He's shown some willingness to rebound. If we don't bring in another forward, Maliq Brown might become an important part of the rotation sooner than most people think he will.

I don’t think it’s a question of whether Brown would become an important part of the rotation immediately….I think it’s the core question of whether he’s ready and that’s a good thing. And he might be. Maybe he will be a great surprise. But I just don’t see how pursuing another forward is anything less than worth the effort. At a minimum, if it’s only one kid they’ll pursue, I’d want (perfect world) a combo 4/5 rather than just a straight up 5 (and back up at that). Even if Brown comes in and is awesome from day 1….how can anyone like the positional depth?
