Yes I’m going to work on that this week.I was hoping we had more reasons to make a bowl game than not! Hoping we can pull off one upset against the murderer’s row teams- that would make our season. Also wishing we had just one year where our OLine was listed as a strength rather than a weakness, especially after it being a recruiting focus.
Mike, will you be taking a shot at our two deep before our opening game??
I agree on kicking. I’m more concerned there than punter because of who they brought in at punter. As far as Ellis, that very well could be part of the issue. I don’t have direct knowledge though.Mike: what kind of shape is Ellis in? Is that potentially the problem? I think it’s definitely disappointing to have a decent tackle, some promising interior options, an SEC transfer…have a returning starter not ready AND it continue to be such a question mark. I’d like to think it will work out. For me the WR2 (let alone 3-5) is a MASSIVE concern, along with the DL. I feel like with a couple pleasant surprises in either it will be a pretty good team….and if not it simply won’t be.
I also still think the kicking team is a scary group too. Punting was so bad last year….the difference between 7-5 and 4-8 could be as razor thin as a shanked punt here and a made FG there.
I agree punting SHOULD be better (if not a strength). But until it becomes a reality, it’s a question for me. I know I’m stating the obvious….but a bowl is just so critical. This is a very nice recruiting class on the heels of presumed important staff departures….the program feels like it’s truly on the verge of being back to consistently solid at an absolutely critical stage in college sports/football. Can’t miss this year. Our new punter is really good, he averaged almost 43 yards per punt as a freshman so playing half his games indoors should improve on that even more. Kicker is definitely the question mark, Brady has a strong leg but accuracy is the question. I have very few worries defensively, OL and what WRs will step up behind OG are my biggest worries for this team.
We absolutely need to make a bowl. This team is certainly better than 2021 and 100X better than 2019, two teams who missed a bowl by one win, so it just should not be difficult to achieve, even with the question marks and the middle of the season gauntletI agree punting SHOULD be better (if not a strength).
