FSU completes to Parchment to the 21, about a half yard short of the marker. FSU will go for 4th down again. A QB sneak gets it.
Syracuse gets a stop after FSU drives deep into SU territory. A big TFL on 2nd down forces FSU into 3rd and long, which was not converted. A short FG is good. 3-0 Florida State with 6:12 left in the first quarter.
Syracuse starts at its own 26 after the kick return.
Tucker gains 5 on first down, but add 15 to that for a face mask on FSU. Suddenly, Syracuse is at midfield.
Tucker gains 3 up to the 49. 2nd and 7.
About 3 more on 2nd down, setting up 3rd and 4.
Shrader hits Jackson over the middle for a first down. Not only important to pick up the first but to do so through the air. Syracuse inside the FSU 35.
Two more Tucker runs sets up a third and about 4. He got tripped up on the 2nd down run or he might have had more.
Shrader hits Cooper but is two yards short of the marker. Syracuse looks like it will go for 4th and 2.
Syracuse goes hard count once, FSU doesn't jump, and the Orange calls timeout. Expect a FG attempt after the break.
Syracuse goes for it and Tucker is stopped for a loss. FSU takes over.
I would have preferred kicking it there to tie it up. Trust Szmyt. But if you're going to go for it, you can't run the play they expected and run blitzed to defend.
Syracuse forces a three and out, highlighted by a PBU from Eric Coley on 2nd down. Travis nearly scrambled for it on 3rd but was stopped a yard short. Nice job by the defense.
