Joe saving it under their own hoop is such a backbreaker. Just can’t have a senior making that play. Reffing was a mess for sure, and Judah has to improve decision making late….but that play is just brutal.
I sort of think SU needs to run the table at this point to start to feel ok about the tournament. Any losses to the cellar dwellers probably means they’d need at least a run to the finals of the conference tournament. Anything worse than 6-3 finish probably means they have to win it. Tough one because there’s no denying how much the team has improved- and the way they looked early I didn’t think this sort of growth was possible.

I'm still pissed about the refs. We were not a jump-shooting team last night. Judah and Jesse had the ball in the paint all night long and couldn't get a call. Judah shot two free throws and Jesse shot zero. Whenever Jesse got the ball it looked like the NBA in the 90s with the way they let UNC manhandle him. Then he gets called for a couple of iffy fouls. Judah had that ridiculous charge instead of and and 1, plus the flagrant. And for the kicker, there was this atrocious call that gave the game to UNC. Caleb Love acted like he was a downfield blocker.

Mike this was a really good recap. You nailed it. It was perfect. And kudos for a ref hater like you to admit that the Judah play was an offensive foul (though not a flagrant).
The and one that they called an offensive foul against Judah was up there as one of the worst calls I've ever seen considering the circumstances.

Good recap Mike. I’ve tried to avoid reading about the game for a while and now I’m pissed all over again. Judah taking 16 shots inside the line and getting 2 free throws while Love takes 2 whole shots inside the line and gets 6 free throws? WTF. And Jesse gets zero free throws even though whenever he tried to make a move to the basket Bacot continually moved his lower body under Jesse to take away his legs.
Love was brazen about his pushing through Judah on the in-bounds with ten seconds to go. He knew the refs wouldn’t blow a whistle against him. Judah might jump to the NBA just so he can get a call and stop getting crap charging calls against him.
I’d hate to face us in the ACC tournament. We can beat them all. I’d be confident about winning it if it were in Barclays.

I’m not convinced it was a charge. Being out of control isn’t a foul. The defender still has to establish legal guarding position (which is NOT the same as being “set” or stationary). I’m not sure he did that. Regardless, calling a flagrant is just a travesty.

If he doesn’t like college refs…Judah ain’t getting calls in the NBA… They’ll let Marcus Smart break him in half!
The one thing I would say is that I thought Judah avoided contact too much in some cases. I thought he played well overall (last 2 minutes a struggle).
