Browns gonna be a good one for us, I have been saying that since 247 boards. I think Carey will be better than most think as well.
This kids a player, been saying it since the 247 board. His length, rebounding, passing, perfect fit for us. I think the class as a whole is solid, pre-portal would have been home run because I think a couple of these guys will be really good year 2-3 players. Hope they stick around long enough to find out.Quite a season and quite a high school career for Maliq. Really looking forward to seeing him play for the Orange. I think he could have an outstanding career at Syracuse, too.
"Player" is a good word for Maliq. Before I watched any of his games, I assumed he was the type of raw one-dimensional big guy who could rebound and defend around the basket but had no skills with the ball other than dunking, the type of guy you don't want having the ball in his hands. But in their half court offense, Blue Ridge positioned him on the perimeter where he was very involved in the offense, particularly as a passer. He has a high basketball IQ and just makes plays all over the court. I think the SU coaches will develop his offense and push him to look for his own shot more, and he will eventually become a good complementary scorer too. It's unlikely he will ever be a star at SU, but he's the ultimate glue guy and the kind of player that becomes a fan favorite. This kids a player, been saying it since the 247 board. I think his ability to contribute next season will be defined by the work he’s doing now until the season starts. He’s gotta get a LOT stronger to be able to compete next year. I do like his ability to defend, and agree he’s a solid passer. But he’s got a long ways to go. This class just scares me. They needed to nail it and for so long were involved with so many real blue chips that could help right away. I just don’t know that they did, given the class has to contribute right away. I share the feeling that “classically” it would be a nice class because looking 2-3 years down the road, it could be a good group. But I’m not sure they can afford that time."Player" is a good word for Maliq.
